Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is a 2024 first-person shooter video game co-developed by Treyarch and Raven Software and published by Activision. It is the twenty-first installment of the Call of Duty series and is the seventh main entry in the Black Ops sub-series, following Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War (2020). Set during Operation Desert Storm, Black Ops 6's single-player story follows rogue CIA operatives Troy Marshall and Frank Woods as they assemble a team of agents to hunt down Pantheon, a paramilitary group with covert ties to the agency.

Gameplay:

Like previous entries in the Call of Duty series, Black Ops 6 is a first-person shooter, featuring a single-player campaign, a multiplayer component, and the cooperative round-based Zombies mode. New gameplay mechanics in Black Ops 6 include omnidirectional movement, which allows players to sprint, dive, and slide in any direction; the game also offers various "Intelligent Movement" settings, which automate certain player actions, including sprinting and mantling. Players are also able to choose between a selection of established presets that alter the game's heads-up display (HUD); this includes a "Legacy" preset for the Zombies HUD that more closely matches the layout for the HUD in Call of Duty: Black Ops III (2015).

Game review:

With Black Ops 6, Treyarch and Raven Software have taken almost everything I love about the Call of Duty multiplayer experience and given it a beautiful polish. The maps are excellent, built to please almost everyone's favorite gun styles. The meat and potatoes – moving quick and dishing out firepower – is aces this year; it's fast without feeling too twitchy, and the weapons dispatch your opponents in exactly the way you expect them to. The Omnimove system is fun and flashy, which makes for some great highlights but doesn’t completely take over as the best technique for every situation. I do wish there were more new and innovative modes to explore, but that’s about the only thing I feel draws fire other than the initial lack of goofy skins available. Overall, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 shines because although it plays a lot of things safe, it does the fundamentals of multiplayer combat in a way that feels better than it has in a long time. I am having an absolutely awesome time with it.
